Dinamo KAZAN take on Bosnian champions in CEV Cup 8th Finals

Dinamo KAZAN will be playing on Wednesday night a team from Bosnia and Herzegovina – ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRČKO – for the first time in their history. This game coincides with the first round of the 8th Finals in the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women.

Dinamo KAZAN easily claimed their matches with VK UP OLOMOUC of the Czech Republic in the previous stage of the competition – and did so in emphatic style. As many as of five out of six sets played by Dinamo KAZAN and the Czechs ended in a comprehensive 25-16 score for the team from Tatarstan, with the remaining one resulting in an even more compelling 25-11 win for the Russians.

The regular season of the Russian Superleague will finish soon and Dinamo KAZAN are most likely to progress to the Playoffs as the second ranked team. The players from the capital of Tatarstan have now set their sights on their matches in the CEV Volleyball Cup. The Russians do not underestimate their opponents at all and have prepared very seriously even though they know that the level of their rivals is lower than what they were used to when playing in the elite CEV Volleyball Champions League for five years in a row.

ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRČKO are the reigning Bosnian national champions and they started their European journey earlier this season losing to France’s RC CANNES in the second round of the CEV Volleyball Champions League. After that, they moved to the CEV Cup and lost 0-3 to Israel’s Hapoel KFAR SABA in the first round of the 16th Finals. They lost the first set of the re-match at home by 15-25 but with the support of their fans they swept three in a row and went on to win the golden set as well to make it through to the next round.

Dinamo KAZAN will first play the Bosnian champions at home before the second round follows in two weeks in Brčko – and the Russians surely want to prevent their opponents from causing another sensation as they did when playing the Israeli team.
