Took the Finnish fortress

In the away match of the 5th round of the Champions League group stage, Dinamo KAZAN had no difficulties against the Finnish Hämeenlinna and achieved victory in three sets.

Dinamo KAZAN went to Finland for the match without their head coach Rishat Gilyazutdinov. The main task for him now is the match in Istanbul at the end of the month against Eczacibasi. Captain and main setter Evgeniysa Startseva also had a rest. However, the result of the first meeting of these teams in Kazan at the end of November, should have been enough for a confident victory. Although on their site the Finnish team will resist more actively.

1st set. More experienced guests immediately took the lead - 1: 5 Hämeenlinna, having recovered from the starting excitement, were able to pull themselves up in the score - 9:11 after the attack of Salla Karhu. But the young Kadochkina, who had played out, quickly ruined all the hopes of the hosts - 14:21. By the way, this match is notable for the fact that two of the youngest Champions League volleyball players played against each other: 15-year-old Russian spiker Tatyana Kadochkina - and 15-year-old Finnish setter Jenna Ylivainio.

2nd set. After the first set was easily won, the Russians slightly weakened their concentration. And this allowed the Finns to even catch up with the score - 11:11. But this situation has become a strong irritant for the guests - they sharply intensified the attack and even more confidently won this set.

3rd set. At first, Hämeenlinna’s captain Pauline Martin offended Kazan’s outside hitter Anastasia Bavykina with ace. And in response, Bavykina made as many as three aces - 2: 5. Thanks to this beginning of the set, the Russian team played well - 10:17. Although the serve by replaced Laura Laukkanen caused some problems - 14:17. Soon Irina Koroleva served very well, and Dinamo KAZAN confidently won this match.

Matteo Pentassuglia, head coach of HÄMEENLINNA:

- We still have two matches left and one goal for us is to win at least one set. For sure, it will not be easy when we meet teams like Dinamo KAZAN and Uralochka-NTMK EKATERINBURG. I think our level in these four matches has grown nicely. We will still try to make the gap with the top teams smaller, especially mentally.
